Man Thinking PearlandAre you sick and tired of feeling sick and tired?

Do you feel like you’re loosing control?  Depression is one of the most common mental disorders in the United States. It is a disabling disorder. Approximately, 7% of people in the United States will be diagnosed with depression in any given year. 18% of the population in the United States will be diagnosed with anxiety in a year. Anxiety is one of the most common reasons people seek out treatment.

Family PsychSolutions, PLLC is a private practice consisting of social workers, psychologists, and licensed professional counselors. Adults often come to see us for anxiety, depression, and relationship issues. It can be difficult to manage stress and find a work life balance but we are here to help. We use techniques supported by research such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.  However, we recognize that each person is unique. We strive to meet one’s personal needs by developing individualized plans and tailoring treatment to each and every client.

Why can’t I just take medicine?
Studies have shown that therapy can boost the effectiveness of medication. Many people don’t like to rely solely on medication and prefer to have “tools” in their tool box. In addition, some medications can have addictive properties.

Isn’t therapy a sign of weakness?
The stigma of needing help is slowly dissipating. Seeking help is often the first baby step in the process and can be a sign of strength. It is important to care for yourself in order to care for others.

Won’t things get worse if I talk about them?
We compartmentalize things out of survival. Talking about things and ceasing the avoidance is hard. At first, by nature things get worse before getting better. However, people over time experience relief, better functioning, and an improvement in their overall quality of life.
